Asteroid Runner - A Game That Started as an Experiment

This game started as an experiment to see if I could figure out how to implement space flight into a 3D game.

Normally when I experiment, I create a few assets to give me something a bit more visually appealing to look at when testing out a mechanic.

For the experiment I created a simple space ship 3D model and a sky box image.  Within 2 days, I had a set of scripts that worked and flying was fun, so I thought I should turn it into a small game.

While I have bigger plans for wanting to make this mechanic, if I'm making a game where this mechanic is the core mechanic, the game needed to be about flight.  It also needed a reason to fly.

These thoughts resulted in Asteroid Runner.  An arcade style space flight game where your objective is to complete a course through an asteroid field.  Time is critical, because if it takes too long to get to the next ring, your ship will explode!

Also, don't crash, the expected thing happens then as well.

While building this game, I also found a jam to enter it into that fit the style of game I was making, so there's that as well.

Give it a go, and see if you can beat it.  The game isn't made to be overly challenging, but the timing is tight in a few spots, and a minor deviation, or missing a ring can cost you the run.

The game is currently posted as a web build, a Windows build will follow in the next few days.
